# Troubleshooting

Every refusal carries one code. Branch on the code, never on the message. Each entry below names its code and links its row on the [problems page](/reference/problems). If a code is not here, look it up there. Run `talotrace doctor` first when you are not sure.

## The agent says it is not signed in, or a tool is refused

The sign-in covers tunnels only. Run `talotrace login --tools`, or let your agent run it after you say yes. Code: [`INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE`](/reference/problems#INSUFFICIENT_SCOPE). See [Sign in](/sign-in).

## The sign-in link does not work

The link expired or was already used. Run `talotrace login` again. Code: [`CONSENT_EXPIRED`](/reference/problems#CONSENT_EXPIRED).

## The CLI says to upgrade

Your CLI is too old for the server. Upgrade it to the version the answer names, then run `talotrace setup` again so the agent entry pins the new version. Code: [`CLIENT_UPGRADE_REQUIRED`](/reference/problems#CLIENT_UPGRADE_REQUIRED).

## A run on localhost is refused

The tunnel is not connected, or another sign-in owns it. Start `talotrace connect <port>` for the port the answer names, and use one sign-in method for both. Code: [`LOCAL_TARGET_NOT_CONNECTED`](/reference/problems#LOCAL_TARGET_NOT_CONNECTED). See [Test an app on localhost](/web/test-localhost).

## The tunnel dropped during a run

Start `talotrace connect` again for the port in the answer. Code: [`CONNECT_LOST`](/reference/problems#CONNECT_LOST).

## The run was refused for billing

Billing does not allow the run. The answer lists what is missing. Code: [`ADMISSION_REFUSED`](/reference/problems#ADMISSION_REFUSED). See [Credits](/concepts/credits).

## The app did not load on the live phone

Your Metro or app did not load from your laptop. Start Metro, then `talotrace dev` again. Code: [`APP_NOT_LOADED`](/reference/problems#APP_NOT_LOADED). See [Live phone](/mobile/live-phone).

## There is no live phone session

Start one with `talotrace dev`. Code: [`DEV_SESSION_NOT_FOUND`](/reference/problems#DEV_SESSION_NOT_FOUND).

## The evidence is gone

Developer evidence is kept for seven days. Run the scenario again. Code: [`EVIDENCE_EXPIRED`](/reference/problems#EVIDENCE_EXPIRED). See [Evidence](/concepts/evidence).

## The build cannot run on a phone

Upload a build file that runs on Android. iOS is not available. Code: [`BUILD_FORMAT_NOT_RUNNABLE`](/reference/problems#BUILD_FORMAT_NOT_RUNNABLE).

## The run says incomplete

There is no usable result. Read the run page for the reason. Rerun once. Never treat it as passed. See [Runs and verdicts](/concepts/runs-and-verdicts).

## A call fails again after one retry

Stop. Send support the code and the request id from the answer. Code: [`DEVICE_REFUSED`](/reference/problems#DEVICE_REFUSED) names this case for the phone.

## The doctor says an agent has no skill

Run `talotrace setup`. See [One-command setup](/install/setup-command).
