# Exit codes

## talotrace

Every command except `check`.

| Code  | Meaning                                              |
| ----- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| `0`   | success                                              |
| `1`   | the command failed                                   |
| `2`   | the command line was not valid                       |
| `3`   | TaloTrace ended the live session                     |
| `4`   | the owner of the session ended it                    |
| `5`   | the session reached its expiry                       |
| `6`   | TaloTrace refused the session                        |
| `7`   | another connection took the session over             |
| `8`   | a stop request did not finish within its time budget |
| `130` | interrupted with Ctrl-C                              |
| `143` | stopped with a termination signal                    |

## talotrace check

A CI job gates on this code. Only a finished run that passed exits 0.

| Code  | Meaning                                                                     |
| ----- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `0`   | the run finished and passed                                                 |
| `1`   | the run finished and failed                                                 |
| `2`   | the run was cancelled                                                       |
| `3`   | the result is incomplete or unknown, so it is never a pass                  |
| `4`   | the time limit passed before the run and its analysis finished              |
| `5`   | TaloTrace could not start the run, reach the service or export the evidence |
| `130` | interrupted with Ctrl-C                                                     |
